Badger Hair

Badger hair can be identified easily by looking for soft yet stiff bristles which start at base as white and end with black tips. Although these bristles are stiff, they are also soft and work great for kabuki brushes, though the brushes themselves tend to be more expensive.

Goat Hair

Goat hair, also called "capra", provide a soft bristle with a slightly more blunt, porous tip which makes it an ideal choice for powder cosmetic brushes, though the bristle tip may not be quite as soft to the touch. The porous tip is ideal for "catching" powders & mineral makeup which helps in adequate mineral application.

Sable Hair

Sable hair is very durable and is very popular for use in cosmetic brushes for many uses. Powders, including mineral makeup foundations, mineral foundation, & mineral bronzers cling well to sable bristles.

Squirrel Hair

Squirrel hair is wonderfully soft and best for soft blending and for a more sheer application as powders do not cling as well to it's bristles.
